The immense universe of ONE PIECE will receive a live-action adaptation of US giant Netflix, but who will be able to direct the pilot of this great adventure for Monkey D. Luffy and his companions? As revealed at a recent meeting, the direction of the first episode was entrusted to Marc Jobst.
Jobst has already partnered with Netflix in the past, to series such as Daredevil, The Punisher and The Witcher, all of which are highly valued by audiences and are characterized by articulate sequences entirely dedicated to combat. An interesting choice that could make the start of the Mugiwara adventure much more frenetic and spectacular than one would have expected.
However, Eiichiro Oda himself has previously stated that one of the main goals of the live-action series is to respect those who have supported the series over the 24 years of its release, thus trying to maintain a degree of fidelity to the original work. The decision to direct Jobst may generate some skepticism among fans, but his directing skills may prove to be more than in line with Oda’s style, and the screenplay by Matt Owens and Steve Maeda. What do you think of the decision to put Jobst in charge? Let us know in the comments.
Finally, we leave you the first information about Garp and Kobi, characters who will play a fundamental role alongside the Mugiwara.
