Nami has always been the female protagonist of ONE PIECE and one of the characters introduced since the first chapter, with a small dedicated space in the opening color image. The girl has been almost ubiquitous since the first struggle with buggy, however it only became a real Mugiwara during the Arlong Park saga.
The Fischmann crew caused so much suffering to Nami and their whole village. The orphan girl found the loving care of Bellmere, with whom she grew up for some time until her death. In one of the moments of this childhood that Oda recounts with a flashback in ONE PIECE, we saw Bellmere prepares a dress with the face of a lion in combination with a sunflower.
Decades later, let’s look back at all of this. A few days ago, ONE PIECE 1026 was published on MangaPlus, a chapter that opened with a quote from that tender moment of Nami’s childhood. The grown-up navigator in Oda’s drawing is shown in a seamstress version taking measurements on a lion while her father observes the scene. Both the young anthropomorphic animal and the mannequins nearby they all have a shirt with the face of the Bellmere Lion and with the words “I am a lion”.
A quote from ONE PIECE that few will remember, but which can still put a smile on your face. Now, however, the release of ONE PIECE 1027 is imminent, which will continue the battle of Onigashima.
