Dick Grayson’s existence was particularly difficult after his parents died. Left alone, the wonder boy found himself under the protective wings of Batman and then went on his own way and became Night wing. In Volume 82 of the series, Dick was shocked again after an unexpected revelation.
After a careful search, Melinda’s mother revealed the identity of her daughter, the new and corrupt mayor of Bludhaven, a city in New Jersey halfway between Gotham and Atlantic City. Meili Lin reveals that in a direct conversation with Nightwing Melinda is the daughter of John Grayson, Dick’s father, and thus the superhero’s half-sister.
Meili explains that she was only 23 when she arrived in the United States, paid for by Tony Zucco. One day she saw a circus, attracted to this apparently festive life and, above all, to the possibility of escaping itso violent and possessive man, he started to go on a tour and got further and further away from Zucco. He was faced with John and Mary Grayson, who shortly thereafter were involved in a confrontation with Tony. The mobster did not hesitate to point the gun at the two boys who, thanks to their friends, managed to get away with it and not reveal Meili’s position.
After she saved her the two, still not in a relationship, took care of Meili at the request of Mr. Haly, the ringmaster. However, during one of the tours, Zucco managed to find and take Meili, who was never found by John and the others. Six months later, Melinda was born, and Tony decided to give her his last name, even though he knew he wasn’t the father. Years later, Meili and Melinda managed to escape and went to the circus to find John.
John and Mary had married and had a child. When Meili saw little Dick, she decided that it would be better to avoid such situations, after all they had saved her and didn’t deserve it. Remember, many DC Comics artists remembered Robinson Rocha, talented artist, famous for his work on the Aquaman series who left us at the age of 41 and that an Arrow character made his debut in Suicide Squad.
