Who hasn’t heard of it Nier Automata? In recent years, since Yoko Taro and Platinum Games started the project, this name has become more and more present among gamers. Recently, however, the brand made a bold decision to expand into other media, and for that, an anime of its own was born.
After months of trailers, statements, interviews and more, the first episode of Nier Automata is finally available on Crunchyroll. The first installment traces some of the events narrated in the video game, which, as we recall, are being overseen by Yoko Taro, who, however, had already anticipated some changes to avoid simply recreating the story in an animated version. However, as was already known, there is 3DCG, one of the animation techniques that in recent years is gaining more and more ground to reduce costs, albeit with not always encouraging results.
And it’s right there 3DCG by Nier Automata landing in the Eye of the Storm. Naturally, with the anticipation for the Crunchyroll title soaring, everyone flocked to the platform to see the features of the first installment and understand how the story would be adapted and in what quality. Unfortunately, however, many have sharply criticized the technical sector. On Twitter in particular, many have railed against 3D animation, and some of the messages available below make it very clear why.
Many believe they do find yourself in front of a Nier Automata made for PlayStation 2, i.e. with 3DCG graphics that are 20 years old or younger. Essentially, it generates a similar critique as Ex-Arm, which was similarly made by Crunchyroll. Have you seen the first episode of the anime yet? What do you think?
Absolutely terrible Nier Automata adaptation so far.
No direction at all, it just feels like the episode plays out a key moment from the game, but completely uninspired versions of those moments.
