The death of Kentaro Miura devastated those who knew him and those who could have known him through the filter of his most famous work. Berserk. And many wonder what will happen to this manga that marked an era and inspired many other productions including manga, video games, and many other new collective imaginations.
In the past few months, Hakusensha has not given a definitive answer to the situation. Berserk could go on like it couldn’t, everything is still hanging by a thread. And even in Volume 41 of Berserk, recently published in Japan, there are exhaustive answers to help us understand the future direction of the series.
In the tankobon recently put up for sale, the Hakusensha has actually stated that he has not made any decisions about Berserk’s future. The editorial note inserted at the end of the volume therefore leaves a bad taste for those hoping for a sequel or at least a final decision.
It should be remembered that, as a rule, when a mangaka can no longer continue its work, it is completely interrupted, except in very special cases where agreements have already been made with the publisher, as was the case recently with Golgo 13 such as Berserk is a very personal series, but with a huge fan base worldwide and therefore autonomous decisions could be made by the publisher.
