The long wait was worth it. The first episode of My Villain Academia, the new narrative arc of the Season 5 of My Hero Academia, offered the audience a unique spectacle. The announced protagonist of this saga is Tomura Shigaraki, whose past hides a tragic horror.
Episode 108 of the anime transposition of Kohei Horikoshi’s work leads us to understand the background behind the Union of Villain leader. The grandson of Nana Shimura, the teacher of All Might and former owner of One For All, has been abandoned by the rotten side of heroic society and taken into custody by All For One, who welcomed him into his arms and gave him a new home and Goal in life.
What we didn’t know, however, is why Shigaraki was left completely alone, a reason unknown even to the villain himself. Apparently, as expected, the hands that make up his criminal costume are nothing more than the hands of his own relatives, which do not leave him even after death. Author of Massacre of his family however, it is Shigaraki himself who, until then, did not seem to have had any quirks.
Tenko Shimura, the real name of Shigaraki, is thus the architect of his own fate, a fate that was followed by Nana Shimura, who is constantly absent due to One For All and the profession of Pro Hero. Shigaraki’s hatred of heroes and them fake hero society it now has a more than logical reason.
