Monster # 8, Naoya Matsumoto's sci-fi manga, also known by the title Kaiju No. 8, recently reached a total of 1.2 million printed copies, a record for one night of Shonen Jump. The work also won a 2021 Taisho Awards nomination and totaled 70 million visits on Shonen Jump +.

The manga, which was posted on Shueisha's website in July 2020, broke both records for the Manga fastest to hit one million copies sold and for the most widely read work on Shonen Jump + in the first six months of serialization. As reported by the website, the work had 40 million views in December and over 70 million on February 8 last year.

The numbers are also extremely promising in the West, where it is slowly becoming one of the most read and discussed manga of the moment. MangaPlus publishes the chapters weekly in simulcast with Japanevery Thursday at 4 p.m. At the moment the work has two volumes and 28 published chapters.

For Shonen Jump, this is another great news as it appears that alongside the absurd success of Demon Slayer and the exponential growth of Jujutsu Kaisen, it appears to have found a new goose to lay golden eggs.
