Lum was an anime that shaped the childhood of not only Japanese viewers but the whole world. Rumiko Takahashi's work has been best known as anime in the last few decades, with products that have since taken the marks of the times. But now Lum is ready to return with a new graphic design.

Lum's surprisingly announced anime will be released in 2022 and shouldn't start before April. The block chosen is in fact the Noitamina block, a block known for its weekly frequency and 30 minutes in length, an episode of an anime currently dedicated to WIT Studio's Osama ranking anime, now in its second story arc.

Although Yofukashi no Uta - Call of the Night is planned for the same slot, Lum's anime will be a 4-cour, so around 48-52 episodes are expected. However, it is not certain that they will be transmitted one after the other, with a high probability that they will be proposed in blocks. Directed by Hideya Takahashi and Yasuhiro Kimura, the script was entrusted to Yuko Kakihara. The character design comes from Naoyuki Asano while the animation was entrusted to David Production, best known for his work on Jojo and Fire Force.

The cast sees confirmation from Sumire Uesaka and Hiroshi Kamiya in the roles of Lum and Ataru, respectively. At the moment it was announced that some stories from the manga will be adapted. Besides, the Trailer for the anime by Lum at the top it starts teasing with the historical opening and a very short scene that focuses on the alien protagonist.
