The editorial seal Orange bunko from Shueisha announced that the novels by Kouko Shirakawa, Koukyuu no Karasu (A raven in the harem), will have an anime adaptation. The statement did not reveal any production details, planned release date, or project format (TV series, film).
Shirakawa began publishing the novels with illustrations by Ayuko (Hakushaku to Yosei) in April 2018. The publisher Shueisha released the fifth volume in December 2020, followed by the sixth volume on August 20 in Japan. The entire literary franchise already has more than 900,000 copies in circulation, but a manga adaptation has not yet been announced.
Summary of Koukyuu no Karasu
The story of the novels revolves around Uki, an imperial concubine who was never called into the emperor’s chambers and who lives a uniquely unique life in the harem chambers. Some think she looks like an old woman and others a young woman, but she is known to use mysterious magic that helps find lost items and casts off curses. If some circumstance causes the emperor to call her, their meeting will change history.
