An anime is always drawn from the most famous manga and basically it is these two media that are most frequently offered abroad. But in Japan there are many other implementations, some always written and drawn like the light novels, others come on stage instead. It is at Ken the Warrior is also affected by this latter version.

The well-known manga by Buronson and Tetsuo Hara, with almost 40 years on their shoulders, is still trendy in Japan. The offshoots of Ken the Warrior will continue in the various magazines, but it has been announced that Hokuto's Fist will also return in a musical version.

In December it will actually happen in Tokyo staged the musical adaptation of Ken the Warrior. The role of the protagonist Kenshiro is taken over by Yusuke Onuki, dancer and actor who has already appeared in The Millionaire Detective - Balance: UNLIMITED by Daisuke Kanbe. The musical is co-produced by HoriPro, Hakuhodo DY Media Partners and the Shanghai-based theater group Ranspace in collaboration with Coamix, a publisher that currently owns the rights to Ken the Warrior after the divorce from Shueisha. Frank Whildhorn (Jekyll & Hyde, Whitney Houston's Where Do Broken Hearts Go, Death Note: The Musical) will compose the music, while Sachiko Ishimaru will direct. Ako Takahashi wrote the script and songs, while Jasmine Chiu takes care of the choreography.
