A press release announced that the manga would be written and illustrated by Miki Yoshikawa, Kakkou no Iinazuke ((A couple of cuckoos), will have an anime adaptation slated to premiere by 2022. The statement revealed a promotional video, voice acting, and a production team.
Yoshikawa, who is also the author of Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo ((Yamada-kun and the seven witches) the manga began to be published in the magazine Weekly Shonen Magazine from the publisher Kodansha in January 2020 after it was released as a set of three one-shots in early 2019 and voted for serialization. The publisher released the fourth compiled volume on November 17, followed by the fifth on January 15 in Japan.

Synopsis of Kakkou no Iinazuke
Nagi Umino, a sophomore at a prestigious high school, discovers that he was mistakenly delivered from the hospital to another family when he was born. One day, on the way to his birth parents, he meets Erika Amano, a strange girl who tries to escape her parents’ arranged marriage. But Nagi and Erika discover that they have a lot more in common than they realize!
