A Batman Allosaurus, a Wonder Woman Triceratops and a Superman Brachiosaurus team up: this isn’t the start of a joke, it’s the theme of Jurassic League, the new limited series from DC Comics tells the adventures of the Justice League in the time of the dinosaurs.
“You know the story: A newborn baby flees the destruction of his home planet to grow up in the care of human parents on Earth. A goddess from a lost city defends the truth. A theropod disguises itself as a bat to strike terror into the hearts of its enemies“, reads the summary published by DC Comics.”wait what Okay, maybe you don’t know the story. So join us and witness a new – albeit older – adventure and discover a Justice League like you’ve never seen before!“.
Jurassic League will be a six-issue limited series written by Daniel Warren Johnson and Juan Gedeon and illustrated by Gedeon himself, the first issue of which will be published in May. “Jurassic League is everything I’ve always wanted to paint – dinosaurs and epic battles“revealed Gedeon.”It’s my take on a 90’s cartoon or video game. Expect a story of survival, unity and hope as the strong protect the weak in a world where danger lurks around every corner.“.
The Jurassic League #1 will be released on May 10, 2022 in the USA. Along with the announcement DC Comics also published two covers of the first issue: the main cover by Daniel Warren Johnson and a variant by Juan Gedeon. We share both covers in the gallery at the end of the article, along with some preview tables.
The Jurassic League isn’t the only alternate Justice League currently in action in the comics – the adventures of the Multiverse Justice League are currently being released. Both groups are definitely doing better than the original team: in fact, DC Comics announced the death of the Justice League.
