A popular Japanese comment forum noted the evolution in popularity of franchise trends Kimetsu no yaiba and Jujutsu Kaisennoting that the latter has already been placed at the top in the past few days. According to the graphic, the red line stands for Kimetsu no Yaiba, while the blue one stands for Jujutsu Kaisen.
The vertical axis is explained and quoted by Google Trends itself: «The numbers reflect search interest relative to the maximum value of a chart in a given region and time period. A value of 100 indicates the maximum popularity of a term, while 50 and 0 indicate that a term is half as popular in relation to the maximum value or that there is not enough data for the term.».
The comment thread in this forum was opened with the title «Kimetsu no Yaiba’s ad bubble is down, it’s time to announce season two!“Noting that the franchise can easily reverse this situation by simply confirming production of a second season or at least announcing progress on the release of the Blu-ray / DVD version of the feature film. Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha hen.
As the graphic shows, the Kimetsu no Yaiba franchise had a huge leap in trend in Japan in mid-October, the month the animated feature was released in Japanese theaters. For its part, Jujutsu Kaisen saw a gradual increase in popularity that same month, which coincided with the premiere of its animated adaptation.
