Film production studios MAPPA, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, reported that it sold 5,671,950 tickets for a total of 7,714,084,650 yen gross (more than $ 66.91 million) eighteen days after it premiered in cinemas in Japan on December 24th. The film is now the 80th most successful film in Japanese history. This film still maintains a much faster collection rate than Evangelion: 3.0 + 1.0 three times at a time, the top-grossing film of 2021, grossing over 6.07 billion yen in its first twenty-one days with more than 3.96 million tickets sold.
This film premiered in cinemas in Japan on December 24th, while this project was announced during the final episode of the series on March 26th and will adapt the prequel to the original manga. On the other hand, Gege akutami began publishing the manga in the magazine Weekly shonen jump from the publisher Shueisha in March 2018. The play inspired a 24-episode anime series that aired in Japan from October 2020 to March 2021.

Yuuta Okkotsu is cursed. Since his childhood friend Rika was killed in a car accident, his spirit has stayed with him. But her mind doesn’t appear like the cute girl Yuuta once knew. Instead, he manifests himself as a monstrous and powerful being that fiercely protects him. Unable to control Rika’s violent behavior, Yuuta is powerless to stop the bloodshed that follows her brutal revenge. When she is caught by the “jujutsu” spells, the secret guardians of the world who have been trained to fight against forces like Rika, Yuuta wants to be completely isolated so that no one else can be harmed.
However, his kidnapper, master magician Satoru Gojou, has other plans for him: He will enter Jujutsu High School and learn to control Rika in order to help the people. Now, in his first year at this school, Yuuta is beginning to learn the arts of jujutsu and fight against evil beings. Along with his new companion Maki Zenin, an expert on jujutsu weapons; Toge Inumaki, a magician who uses his words as weapons; and Panda, a panda who seems to walk and talk, Yuuta begins to find his place in the world and, for once, to familiarize himself with his abilities. In the course of his training, however, Yuuta learns that the dangers of the jujutsu world go far beyond evil spirits.
