After several months of absolute silence, a lot of information has finally arrived on the Black Clover movie, whose official title is Sword of the Wizard King. In addition to the name, we now know the antagonist and the official release date of the film, but there are still many doubts among the fans.

Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King is expected to be released March 31, 2023 on Netflix, concurrent with its debut in Japanese cinemas. However, what most intrigues fans after the trailer and released visual is whether the Storyline of Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King, canon or not. So that we understand each other.

Considering the promotional material revealed, Asta’s physical appearance can be traced back to the period between the end of the Elven saga and the beginning of thejoint training with allies from the kingdom of hearts. The film can therefore probably be classified in the six months in which the protagonists train in the dark of the readers.

The main enemy should be Konrad Leto, the magic emperor before Julius Novachrono. This very important character has never been mentioned, neither in the anime nor in the manga. So is the movie canon or not?

Although it is supervised by author Yuki Tabata, responsible for the character design of Leto, Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King is a non-canon manga. The manga series will therefore never take into account the events that happened in the movie. However, the film remains equally canonical, at least for the anime. It can actually be said that a new trend and as Studio Pierrot is doing for much of the Boruto: Naruto the Next Generation anime, Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King and Canon Anime.
