On the official site for the anime adaptation of the novels written by Ire Ishida, Ikebukuro West Gate Park, the first promotional video of the project was published. The video is narrated by Kentarou Kumagai, who plays the character Makoto.

The anime was scheduled to premiere in July, however, due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on production, the decision was made to delay the premiere until October of this year.

For his part, Ishida has written thirteen novels for the series. It inspired a popular live-action series in 2000, as well as a special in 2003. Sena Aritou published a manga adaptation in the magazine Young Champion from the publisher Akita Shoten between 2001 and 2004. Sho Kitagawa He released another manga adaptation in 2015.

Synopsis for Ikebukuro West Gate Park

The mystery novel is set in the Ikebukuro neighborhood of Tokyo at the eponymous Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Kouen. The story centers on Makoto Majima, the son of a local fruit vendor and known as the “Ikebukuro problem solver”. The boy helps everyone, from friends to strangers, to solve many and varied incidents.
