Yoshihiro Togashi once again had to obey the readers Hunter x Hunter take another break. The manga had returned to Weekly Shonen Jump after a several-year hiatus, ending the longest hiatus in Shonen magazine’s 25-year publication history. But now it is not known when he will return and how.
There are no dates for the return of Hunter x Hunter and at this point the situation becomes even more confused, both for the words of Yoshihiro Togashi – which indicate a fundamental change in the publication genre that the manga will have in the future – and for one recent change in Shueisha’s catalogue. In fact, Hunter x Hunter is now part of Weekly Shonen Jump’s archived manga. But what does all this mean?
Of course, readers and fans around the world need not worry: Hunter x Hunter has not been cancelled. Given the scope of the manga and the author’s situation, had there been a full conclusion to the story, there would have been an official announcement in the past few weeks. But then what does it mean? When a manga is archived, it usually means that it is no longer published in that magazine. From this point of view, it would therefore be logical to think of one Switch to digital magazine Shonen Jump+, with a more relaxed pace and that doesn’t have the same restrictive requirements as print magazines. That way, Togashi could publish the chapters at his leisure and at the pace he preferred.
Don’t underestimate the hypothesis that the story will simply move from “archived” to “in progress” once Togashi and the editors decide on the new publishing method, although this seems unlikely. Anyway i Hunter x Hunter readers can rest easyunless Togashi’s health deteriorates so much that he can’t even allow him to write the manga anymore.
