Did you know that every author has an editor who supervises him? This figure exists in every editorial pyramid with various responsibilities from marketing nurturing to overseeing mangaka work. Obviously, the writers of Weekly Shonen Jump also have one, sometimes even more than one, as is the case with Eiichiro Oda von, for various reasons ONE PIECE.
It’s been like this lately changed editor again, or editor following ONE PIECE. So let’s make a summary of all the characters that have followed Eiichiro Oda over the years, which the mangaka has always reported to the readers through comments and interviews. Two key Twitter users who are passionate about ONE PIECE, namely Artur and Sandman, have reached out to help with outlines and summaries of interviews and statements.
- The The first editor of ONE PIECE was Takanori Asadaengaged from July 1997 to April 2001;
- Then came Takahiro Habuta, active from 2001 to February 2005;
- The third was the mysterious Watanabe, a few months for him, from February to October 2005;
- The fourth was Naoki Kawashima, who was active for a year from October 2006 to November 2007;
- The fifth was Kouhei Onishi, one of the top characters from Weekly Shonen Jump, who covered ONE PIECE from November 2007 to June 2008;
- The sixth was the very famous Akira Jean-Baptiste Hattori, which operated from June 2008 to December 2010;
- Takeru Isaka followed and was active for three and a half years, from December 2010 to June 2014;
- The eighth was Suguru Sugita, another household name active from January 2014 to January 2017;
- The editors are getting younger, Takuma Naito worked from January 2017 to January 2019;
- From January 2019 to June 2020 and part of 2022, Takano Ken was active;
- The penultimate was Yuji Iwasaki, who has just left the role;
- Now the editor of ONE PIECE is young Anayamawho just joined Shueisha last year.
Overall they were twelve ONE PIECE editorswho have gotten younger over time given Oda’s experience in the industry, and the mangaka jokes that the younger editors are now too big fans of ONE PIECE since they grew up watching this manga.
Who knows if the Egghead saga and future ones will be as good as the ones before; Surely Anayama will do better than ChatGPT’s suggestions.

Oda’s new editor Anayama joined Shueisha in 2022, so he’s most likely around 23-24 years old. Anayama means hole mountain. In 2009, Oda became furious when he saw that his editor’s email address was linked to Gintama as a former Gintama editor. He immediately changed it to *onepiece-the-best*🤣
