The channel Impressive announced the production of an anime adaptation of the novels by Rieko Hinata and illustrated by Akihiro Yamada, Hikari no Ou. The series is produced by studios Signal.MD (Netojuu no Susume, Hirune Hime: Shiranai Watashi no Monogatari, Birthday wonderland) and the statement did not reveal any further details.

Hinata began publishing the artist's novels in December 2018 Juuni Kokuki and character designer from RapXephon, Akihiro Yamada. The author published the fourth volume on September 3 in Japan.

Synopsis of Hikari no Ou

The story takes place in a world after the last human war. A vast forest infested with burning creatures and other fallen animals covers the world and pockets of humanity live in small protected communities. Due to a special weapon used during the last war, people spontaneously went up in flames even when approaching a small source of fire. Thus the only safe source of energy for humans is in the body of the burning animals, and the duty to hunt them rests with the hunters who defy the depths of the great forest.

The story begins with Touko, a young girl in a paper town who is attacked by a burning animal and protected by a hunter. Elsewhere, a young man born in the capital, Kouishi, protects his younger sister after her mother dies.
