On the official page for the studio’s original anime sunrise and continuation project of InuYasha, Hanyou no Yashahime: Sengoku Otogizoushi (Yashahime: Princess half-demon), a new video and promo image has been released for season two. The press release confirmed that the premiere is scheduled for October 2 in Japan and announced that Saki Fujita will join the voice as Rion.

Viz Media posted the promo video with English subtitles.

The first season premiered in Japan in the fall 2020 season and comprised a total of 24 episodes with the platform Crispy roll responsible for sales in Latin America (in addition to the synchronization of Viz Media) and the platform Funimation also distribute. The overall project is a direct continuation of the franchise based on the manga written and illustrated by Rumiko Takahashi, InuYasha.

Production team

  • Teruo Sato took over the direction of the first season in the studios sunrise.
  • Katsuyuki Sumisawa was responsible for writing and overseeing the scripts for the first season.
  • Rumiko Takahashi took care of the designs of the main characters while Yoshihito hishinuma (Yakitat !! Japan, Shinjuku private eyes) was responsible for adapting these designs to the animation.
  • Kaoru wada (Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo) was responsible for composing the soundtrack.

Hanyou no Yashahime synopsis

Sesshomaru and Inuyasha’s daughters embark on an adventure that transcends time! In feudal Japan, the half-demon twins Towa and Setsuna are separated in a forest fire. Desperate for her younger sister, Towa finds a mysterious tunnel that takes her to modern Japan, where she is found and placed in the care of Kagome Higurashi’s brother Sota and his family.

Ten years later, the tunnel that connects the two eras will be reopened so that Towa can join Setsuna, who has now become a youkai assassin along with Kohaku. But the worst part is that Setsuna seems to have lost her memories and no longer recognizes Towa. Together with Inuyasha’s daughter Moroha and Kagome, the three travel between two eras on an adventure in order to regain a forgotten past.
