After two years and ninety-seven episodes, the anime of GeGeGe no Kitaro is over and the next March 29th will definitely leave room for Digimon. However, Toei Animation has announced the arrival of a definitive film due out in 2022just to delete the tweet and repost it without a date.
For those unfamiliar with the series, we remind you that GeGeGe no Kitaro (Kitaro of the Cemeteries in Italy) to this day received seven anime adaptationsPractically one per decade from 1968 to the present day. The last, made by Toei Animation, took the place of Dragon Ball Super in 2018 and is now nearing its graduation.
Today the studio formalized the production of an anime feature film called The birth of Kitaro – The secret of GeGeGewhich appears to be part of a larger project being carried out to mark the 100th birthday of Shigeru Mizuki, the work’s author. The film was originally scheduled to be released in 2022, around the birthday, however Toei deleted the tweet minutes after it was postedA shift is therefore practically certain.
Back to the movie: For now, only the poster visible below has been shared with the title and tagline “Why was I born?” Shows. Toei Animation has not released any further information other than that Fuji continues to pay the advertising costs and that there is more Three thematic announcements are planned. We can expect new information in the course of 2021.
