On the official page for the new anime-manga adaptation by Natsuki Takaya, Fruit basket, was a new update to the compilation project titled. released Fruit basket: Preludewhich will hit theaters in Japan on February 18, 2022. The update consists of a new promotional video showing part of the feature film.
This project will include the anime adaptation of the bow Kyouko to Katsuya no Monogatari (The story of Kyouko and Katsuya), which focuses on the story of Tohru’s parents, part of the manga that was not converted to anime. The film will also feature new scenes written by Takaya personally that tell the post-anime storyline events.
The final season aired during the spring 2021 season (April-June) with a total of thirteen episodes while the platform Funimation takes care of sales in the west. The first season of 25 episodes premiered in Japan in April 2019, followed by a second season of 25 episodes in April 2020.

- Natsuki Takaya served as executive supervisor while Yoshihide-Bata (Pikaia !!, FLCL progressive) was responsible for directing the anime in the studios TMS entertainment.

Summary of the fruit basket
Tohru Honda has always been fascinated by the story of the Chinese zodiac that her loving mother told her as a child. However, a sudden family tragedy changes her life and the circumstances that follow leave her alone. Tooru is now forced to live in a tent, but she has no idea that her temporary home is on the Souma family’s private property. When he bumps into his house one day, he meets Shigure, Souma’s older cousin, and Yuki, the “prince” of their school. Tohru explains that she lives nearby, but the Soumas eventually discover their well-kept secret of homelessness when they watch her go back to her tent one night.
Things start looking for Tohru when they kindly offer to take them in after learning of their situation. But shortly afterwards she is embroiled in a fight between Yuki and her quick-tempered cousin Kyou. While trying to stop them, he learns that the Souma family has a well-kept secret: every time they are hugged by someone of the opposite sex, they transform into the animals of the Chinese zodiac.
