On November 26, 2012, the last of three new series in Weekly Shonen Jump began. The first two were Hungry Joker by Yuki Tabata (future Black Clover writer) and Shinmai Fukei Kiruko-san by Masahiro Hirakata. Neither had great success, but the third series managed to undermine expectations: Food Wars – Shokugeki no Soma.
Yuto Tsukuda was a writer who had already made his Weekly Shonen Jump debut, sadly bankrupt, while Shun Saeki was apparently new to the manga world only to find out it was Tosh, a former hentai writer. The duo managed to create an immersive manga that combines the world of cooking with Shonen Jump battles. Food Wars has thus become an important title of the past decade. However, it has been a few years since the last chapter of the manga starring Soma.
10 years have passed since 2012 and now Food Wars is celebrating its 10th anniversary. There is a special project coming up, but in the meantime Shun Saeki commemorates the series with a drawing of Soma and Erina, the two protagonists. You can find below the illustrations that the mangaka has prepared for this event, with the two protagonists, knives in hand, ready to cook a new dish that will make sparks among the guests.
