March 17 marks the 25th anniversary of Toonami, and to celebrate a quarter century of activity, Adult Swim has announced the return of a series of its most popular. FLCL will be back soon, announcing not just one, but two new seasons!
in the 2000 FLCL debuted, extremely accurate and detailed sci-fi anime from a graphic point of view. In 2019 there was the second appointment with the franchise. Four years ago, FLCL: Progressive and Alternative debuted on Crunchyroll. But as they say, there is no two without three and for Toonami’s 25 years, Adult Swim will propose the saga again.
Despite the commitments with the release of Season 6 of Rick & Morty, Adult Swim will soon double as a series. FLCL: Dirt, of which a first-ever mere-seconds teaser has already been shared, will be directed by Hitoshi Takekiyo and produced by MontBlanc Pictures. The song that accompanies the clip, where we can admire the special style of the series, is “Ride on Shooting Star” by The Pillows.
The second series is called FLCL: Shoegaze and will be directed by Yutaka Uemura, former head of FLCL: Alternative. This season is co-produced by Studio NUT and Production IG, who worked on the original series.
