A while back, Marvel had announced the death of a member of the Fantastic Four at the hands of a teammate when revealing the synopsis of Fantastic Four #42. The release of the Fantastic Four #42 preview, due out this week in the United States, adds a little Context about Mister Fantastic’s possible death.
In the pages of the new crossover event Marvel Reckoning War, the universe threatens to set in an ancient menace known as The Reckoning. In an attempt to obtain the information needed to avert the danger, Reed Richards has come into possession of the powers of Uatu The Watcher, which, while granting him a degree of divine omnipotence, has begun to do so deteriorate his body leaving him only three days to live.
That shows the preview of Fantastic Four #42, which we report on below Mister Fantastic is forced to activate Protocol Zero. While it doesn’t specify what it is, the preview seems to indicate that the consequences of its activation will be disastrous. These consequences could be serious enough to get The Thing to attack his teammateas the cover of the issue by the artist Cafu shows.
Whether it’s due to Uatu’s powers or the thing’s fury, Mister Fantastic’s fate seems sealed. Either way, we’ll soon find out whether or not we’re nearing the end of Reed Richards: the US release of Fantastic Four No. 42written by Dan Slott and illustrated by Rachael Stott, is scheduled for April 6th.
