Hideaki Anno is an unpredictable director, an icon of Japanese culture thanks to his masterpiece Neon Genesis Evangelion. At the time the first rebuild tetralogy film was released, nobody would have expected the work to take such a different turn from the original series.
Waiting for the latest rebuild movie to be released on Amazon Prime Video next August 13th, which you can still discover thanks to our exclusive review of Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0, we refresh the big differences between the 4 films by Studio Khara and the historical television series. The most important thing, without a doubt, is that the two projects are different, albeit linked by a mysterious thread.
Hideaki year it actually skewed the plot of the TV series, adding new characters and entirely new situations, especially from the third film onwards, which completely disoriented fans of the saga. There are many theories that have tried to explain why the two projects are so different, one of which is what is called “Loop theory“, a repetition of the story from a central point that changes based on Shinji’s choices, which we already saw a taste of in the manga of Yoshiyuki Sadamoto or in the light novel by Ikuto Yamashita which deviate from the canonical act. The rebuilds could therefore be part of a different timeline, halfway between a sequel and a restart, even if the director is assumed to take this final opportunity to reveal at least a few of the questions that have remained open all these years . After all, the same year when the first film was released it was said: “Eve is a story that Yes repeated“.
So we just have to wait the next few days to finally know how this series will end, which for better or for worse really made the history of Japanese animation. Instead, what do you expect from the final? Please let us know as usual with a comment in the appropriate field below.
