The voice actor was famous for voicing Kozo Fuyutsuki, Gendo Ikari's shoulder in Neon Genesis Evangelion, and other characters from the Hideaki Anno series.

Motomu Kiyokawa was born on April 9, 1935 in Kanagawa Prefecture. In 1957 he took part in the training program of the Theater company Hayuza. He made his voice acting debut in 1957 on the American-born television show Battle! to pay the Hayuza Theater Company fare.

Kiyokawa's first voice acting role in an anime came in 1964 thanks to the adaptation of Big X by Master Osamu Tezuka. After that, Kiyokawa approached Tem Ray Mobile Suit Gundam. Her first truly significant role, however, was in Nadia: The Mystery of the Blue Stone, Hideaki Anno's first work, with Kiyokawa voicing Gargoyle.

After these works, Kiyokawa voiced Kozo Fuyutsuki Neon Genesis Evangelion, a role that made him known to the general public. Among the latest characters voiced by Kiyokawa, we find Tippy in Is the Order a rabbit?Yoichiro in Golden Kamui and dr Eggman im Sonic the Hedgehogrecorded after the death of former voice actor Chikao Ohtsuka in 2015. With Motomu Kiyokawa, the voice of the protagonists of many famous anime disappears.
