In the past few months, the soap opera linked Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0, the last film in the rebuild tetralogy that has been waiting for several years. Obviously, the film lacked numerous anecdotes and curiosities, some of which had to do with the production phase.
Hideaki Anno’s masterpiece, which you can catch up on in our Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 review, ended an ordeal that took too many years of waiting. Khara study called out the best animators to make a film that lived up to expectations, a technical sector that finally satisfied the huge community associated with NGE.
A Japanese reviewer, some Typer-RShe recently shared a backstory about the production of a specific scene in the Asuka forces Shinji to eat something. Apparently the information was later confirmed in the eighth issue of CG World magazine. The reviewer explains: “The scene in which Asuka forces Shinji to eat in “Evangelion: 3.0 + 1.0” has a creepy composition for every connoisseur. Not only does the screen move with the movement of the camera, but the perspective of the background changes according to the movement, which makes the composition incredibly complex. It took me about a year to complete just this sequence.“
Then continue: “There seems to be quite a lot of user comments asking, “So it wasn’t CG animation?” I’ll tell you more: the backgrounds were created in 3DCG animations and the textures of art materials were placed. Asuka’s movements were converted into motion capture data and the rest was done entirely by hand by the animators.“
As for you, what do you think of this scene instead, which you can find at the end of the news? Let us know with a comment below.
