Studio Ghibli is a revolutionary company in the world of animation that made some of the film productions that made history. Earwig and the witch wants to be a stage on the way of the studio as it is done with a technique so criticized by Hayao Miyazaki, computer graphics.

Goro Miyazaki returns to direct a Ghibli film that aims to give CGI meaning within the studio itself. A few hours ago NHK released a new promotional trailer clarifying the release date once and for all. A few weeks ago one had appeared on the station’s pages Debut date set for December 30, 2020 only to disappear a few minutes later. Well, NHK has confirmed that the film will actually debut on that day and land in North America a few months later. In Italy, the arrival or non-arrival of the film has not yet been confirmed, but we will keep you updated until further news.

The nearly two-minute clip previews the themes of the film as well as the production’s CGI performance to deliver a variety of character expressions. However, the summary of the story follows here:

“”Not all orphans want to live in the Saint Morwald orphanage, but Earwig does. She gets what she wants, when she wants, since she was dropped at her door as a little girl. But everything changes when Bella Yaga and Mandrake arrive in Saint Morwald posing as adoptive parents. Earwig is mesmerized by her mysterious home full of invisible rooms, potions, spell books and magic around every corner. Most children would be afraid of such a house … but not Earwig. With the help of a talking cat, the girl decides to show who is the boss of this house.“”
