While it doesn’t have the filler number of Naruto: Shippuden, even Dragon Ball Z has its fair share of episodes specially created by Toei Animation to take its time and delay some fundamental events of the Akira Toriyama-written series. Dragon Ball Z has a total of 44 full-filler episodes, not many.
They’re all fairly evenly distributed across all the sagas and feature different scenes, between Goku and Piccolo trying to get their license, real mini-sagas like that of the Afterlife Tournament or Garlic Jr, and much more. But what are they five worst filler episodes of dragon ball z? Let’s look at flop 5.
We start with one of the first Dragon Ball Z fillers inserted into the Saiyan saga. Goku is on the snake and must run as fast as possible to reach King Kaioh’s planet. However, halfway there he finds a strange building, the home of the snake princess. Episode 14 “The Princess” is the first fill flop on this list, composed of moments that have little to do with the atmosphere of Dragon Ball Z and the moment.
We go much further on that fourth position for episode 171, “Gohan’s Birthday”. In anticipation of Cell Game’s launch, Toei’s production dedicates a few fullness episodes to Gohan and his father, and one of them focuses on a series of memories and collages of the boy’s past moments.
Collision in Space is Dragon Ball Z Episode 39 and third on the list. As if it weren’t already odd for a starship to encounter another starship in space, the latter is riddled with traps that Gohan, Krillin, and Bulma fall into over and over again for an episode that has very little to say.
Second digit for Episode 117 “The Pearl of Happiness”, which concludes the Garlic Jr. saga. This is the last full episode before Freeza’s arrival and mainly focuses on Krillin’s attempts to propose to Marion, however in the end the girl will leave, perhaps the only positive note of the episode.
Finally in First Position is Episode 10 “Gohan’s First Fight”. Gohan continues his solo journey since being abandoned by Piccolo, while Yamcha indulges in baseball in some lengthy and utterly pointless scenes.
