Time travel is one of the main aspects explored in the early days of the science fiction genre, just think of Wells’ The Time Machine, which can affect generations of writers and artists. Akira Toriyama, who is in Dragon Ball Z has taken up the concept of the time machine in the Arc of Cell.
In one recently Meeting with the physicist Toshifumi Futamase Colleagues from the Dragon Ball official UK site asked some pretty interesting questions on the subject. In the images shown below, the interview with the professor at Kyoto Sangyo University is re-suggested, based on what was seen at the beginning of the android saga.
When asked if it was possible to build a time machine like the brilliant Bulma did, Futamase replied that our knowledge does not currently allow us to deny a hypothetical creation of this type and that we could therefore consider, that in the future someone will succeed. It was recently found that it is possible to speed up or slow down infinitely small periods of timewhich necessarily involves both the speed of light and gravity.
Fascinated by the effect of gravity on the flow of time, the interlocutor asked for a more detailed explanation. In the simplest and most accessible way, Futamase responded: According to the general theory of relativity, the larger the gravitational field, the greater the deformation of space-time. As an example, the professor cited gravity near a much larger black hole than Earth, where one second would correspond to about 10-20 years on our planet.
This example should draw the conclusion that the flow of time is not constant, but varies depending on the location. Another aspect that is covered in the interview is the possibility to travel into the future, theoretically possible. The last intervention concerned the difficulty of demonstrating a journey into the past, of which the theory of such a journey is currently only accepted for one fundamental particle.
What do you think of what Futamase said? Please let us know in the comments section as usual. To conclude, we leave you with a spectacular statue of Goku Super Saiyan and everything we know about Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
