Akira Toriyama has a well-defined style, which was then picked up by the character designers of Dragon Ball Z for the duration of the anime. C18 for example is always recognizable: high forehead, very sharp almond shaped eyes and some proportion in the other parts of the face make it unique and not replicable.
But what would happen if C18 was recreated with the styles of other mangaka or other character designers that make you become a character from another anime instead of Dragon Ball? The answer comes from fan art by Abelveraart, a designer who decided to try his hand at the venture.
In the image available below, nine styles are selected: we start with Dragon Ball, the original, and then continue with Naruto and Jojo, which are already beginning to significantly change C18. Gradually there are all other souls like Cowboy Bebop, Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, One-Punch Man, Ghost in the Shell and finally Bleach. Abelveraart certainly pulls off the feat by centering the main details of C18 and transferring them to other drawing styles. Which variant do you like best?
Abelveraart has done the same thing with Cell in the past, but the designer isn’t the only one. Remember the Goku from A2TWillDraw?
