The Dragon Ball androids were some of the toughest opponents for Goku and the others. Lapis and lazuli were converted to C-17 and C-18 from Doctor Gelo to two war machines with inexhaustible energy. However, meeting the protagonists will do them well and will also take part in the fights of Dragon Ball Super.
All the while, the two androids always look the same. Despite the years that have passed since their introduction in Dragon Ball Z to the latest Dragon Ball Super events, they still look the same. Then the question arises: i two androids # 17 and # 18 are getting old or will they survive the rest of the Z Fighters?
If we limit ourselves to the words Akira Toriyama wrote in the Dragon Ball manga, and then taken from the Dragon Ball Z anime, then the two androids are immortal. In chapter 349 of the manga, which corresponds to episode 133 of Z, Doctor Gelo states that the two androids now have eternal life. These applies to all Red Ribbon androids created by Doctor Frostso that even C-8 and any other possibly alive android characters from the world of Dragon Ball remain until someone destroys them.
In Dragon Ball GT we know that 100 years after the series ended, Pan is the only one of the old protagonists alive, which means that # 17 and # 18 are dead. However, as we know, Dragon Ball GT is no longer canon and therefore this phrase of the anime can safely be ignored. however Toriyama himself then refuted the same words that were inserted into the manga. In fact, in the same interview, the author specifically answered a question in which he revealed the names of the two androids.
In the Full Color Edition of the Cell Saga, Toriyama explains that the two androids have a human base and therefore that they can exercise and improve, they don’t have to eat but they have to stay hydrated. After all, they also age, albeit very slowly. Hence, based on this last sentence, # 17 and # 18 grow old and one day die, albeit later than the other warriors.
Despite their marginality, they were busy in the newest Dragon Ball Super-Arc.
