The Devil’s Reign crossover event starring Daredevil is now coming to an end. Next week, Marvel will release the sixth and final installment of the series in the US. In a preview published by the artist Marco Checchetto we see a Daredevil looking to put his code aside and kill Kingpin once and for all.
The final battle between Daredevil and Kingpin was already announced with the release of the Devil’s Reign #6 cover art. The main motivation behind Matt Murdock’s controversial decision is Kingpin’s murder of his brother Miketold in the previous issue.
In Devil’s Reign #5, indeed, Kingpin has regained his memories of Daredevil’s secret identity. He then went to Matt Murdock’s house with the intention of killing him, but instead found in his place Mike, Matt’s twin brother.
While Kingpin is now convinced that he killed his nemesis, the real Daredevil is actually in the midst of a confrontation with the Thunderbolts under the control of the Purple Man. The preview released by Checchetto shows Matt learning of his brother’s death at the hands of Kingpin and taking it the decision to end the situation permanently.
To find out if Daredevil will actually kill Kingpin, we’ll have to wait until April 6th, the day it’s released in the United States. Devil Reign #6, by Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto. At the end of the miniseries, the two cartoonists will continue the adventures of the Guardian Devil in a new series of Daredevil starting at number 1.
