In a press release, Marvel Comics has finally revealed more details about Destiny of X, an event linked to the X-Men defined as the next era of mutants. Contrary to what is presumed Destiny of X won’t be a comic series, but the name of the relaunch that numerous Marvel mutant newspapers will be involved in.
With a promotional image showing all of the characters who will be featured prominently in Destiny of X, Marvel Comics has specified all newspapers that will be involved in the relaunch: In addition to the already running series X-Men, Wolverine, New Mutants, Marauders and X-Force, the newcomers Immortal X-Men, Knights of X, Legion of X and X-Men Red will be added.
As promised by the previously released Destiny of X teaser posters, the possibilities for these characters are endless, and Marvel promises major upheaval in the status quo. The promotional image was designed by Leinil Francis Yu and Sunny Gho, but it is clear that there will be multiple creative teams managing the various publications involved.
Senior Editor Jordan D. White promises: “The journey to the Krakoana era is not over yet! The long-term plan that the creatives have defined in our council chamber is only just beginning. With the two empty boardroom seats occupied, X’s reign ends and it is time for the mutants to take their fate into their own hands!“.
The Destiny of X relaunch starts next spring and will take up the legacy of Jonathan Hickman’s management, which will end its run with the finale of the Inferno series. Destiny of X will also be linked to the titles X Lives of Wolverine and X Deaths of Wolverine, which will be released from January 2022 and will change Wolverine’s life forever.
