The terrible mishap of Tanjiro and his companions on board the Mugen train is finally over. In the seventh episode of the second season of Demon Hunter, available on Crunchyroll, we witness the end of the battle between Kyojuro Rengoku and Akaza, the third crescent.
The intense fight against the demon made Hashira push her limits, also underestimate the power of the enemy. If we pick up on the huge amount of blood that was shown in the final frames of the last appointment, we see the Pillar of Flames being extremely tested. Akaza provokes him and says that in his physical condition there is no way he can hope for a victory.
While Tanjiro and Inosuke watch the sceneIncapacitated, the Hashira lifts the katana and unleashes the remaining strength to do his duty one last time. Both go to attack. Kyojuro is eager to do as much damage to Akaza as possible, and after another exchange of blows the demon seems to have an advantage again.
The pillar managed to hit him with flame breathing, but Akaza’s incredible ability to regenerate allowed Akaza to withstand the opponent’s techniques and hit him fatally. On the wounded face of Rengoku, the authors take us back in time, ad a moving moment between little Kyojuro and his mother. He remembers his words and tightened his grip on his katana again, hits Akaza’s neck and squeezes him. Dawn is approaching and it might be the only chance to kill the crescent moon.
Unfortunately, the overexertion of the fight doesn’t allow Rengoku to block for too long the demon that manages to escape. Both Tanjiro and Inosuke weep at the inevitable death of the pillar. Even with his last words Rengoku shows his trust in Tanjiro and to the next generation of demon slayers.
When the last of his strengths leave him, Rengoku sees his mother in the background, who tells him that she is proud of what she has done. The episode ends with a short sequence devoted to the other pillars and informed of the death of their companion. Remember, from the next episode onwards, the arc of the red light district begins, shown in a new trailer, and we leave you to the surprising calculation of the speed of Rengoku’s attacks.
