In a significant announcement at Jump Festa 2025, the highly anticipated second season of “Dandadan” revealed an unsettling teaser promotional video, confirming its Summer 2025 premiere while introducing notable changes to its creative team.

Mysterious New Characters and Ominous Threats

The newly released teaser PV offers viewers their first glimpse of several intriguing additions to the series’ cast. Notable among these are Naki Kito and a character known as “Evil Eye” (Jashi). In one of the teaser’s most striking moments, a mysterious figure clad only in briefs delivers the chilling declaration, “Ningen wa migoroshi ja” (“Humans will all be killed”). The video also features an enigmatic scene of a child peering through latticed openings, while phrases like “Yatsu ga kuru” (“He’s coming”) and “Onnen no gonge” (“Incarnation of Resentment”) heighten the ominous atmosphere.

Science SARU continues as the production house for the second season, with a significant addition to its directorial team. Spanish animator Abel Góngora, who previously directed the first season’s opening animation, joins Fuuga Yamashiro as co-director. Yamashiro’s previous works include “Yojouhan Time Machine Blues” and “Inu-ou”, while Góngora brings experience from projects such as “Nihon Chinbotsu 2020” and “Star Wars: Visions”.

Dandadan

Series Background

“Dandadan,” based on Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga serialized in Shonen Jump Plus since April 2021, follows the supernatural adventures of Momo Ayase and Ken “Okarun” Takakura. The series uniquely blends occult and sci-fi elements as its protagonists encounter various otherworldly phenomena. Tatsu, notably a former assistant to acclaimed mangaka Tatsuki Fujimoto, has created a story that seamlessly combines supernatural thrills with coming-of-age elements.

The first season, which recently concluded its twelve-episode run in Fall 2024, established the series’ distinctive blend of supernatural encounters and youth drama. With the second season’s teaser suggesting a darker tone, fans can anticipate how these new elements will expand the series’ already rich narrative tapestry.

Looking Ahead

The Summer 2025 premiere window places “Dandadan” Season 2’s release between July and September 2025. With its expanded directorial team and the intriguing elements revealed in the teaser PV, the series appears poised to deliver an even more compelling narrative that builds upon its successful foundation.
