The discussions and expectations surrounding the proposed implementation of chainsaw man unintentionally influenced several aspects of the production and the approach the artists at MAPPA studio took in adapting the hugely successful work written and designed by the talents Tatsuki Fujimoto.
During the Chainsaw Man panel at Anime Expo 2022, they intervened Makoto Kimura and Manabu Otsuka, respectively Executive Director and Managing Director and CEO of MAPPA, who, in addition to promoting the series, also discussed some of the background to the production. In fact, both were impressed with the community’s welcome to the first trailer that aired more than a year ago.
Otsuka has already witnessed the release of adaptations of already hugely popular works thanks to the manga counterpart, but he never expected such success and engagement from fans. Kimura has stated that it’s all about making a series like Chainsaw Man so popular the brutality and violence with which scenes are portrayed and sequences, and this caused the production to consider the possibility, if not the necessity, of not censoring anything from the original story.
In addition, the implementation team worked hard to meet the fans’ expectations a result that is perceived as βcorrectβ. compared to Fujimoto’s base.
