in the Chainsaw man, Tatsuki Fujimoto’s crazy manga, takes shape people’s fears by turning them into “devils”. Certainly one of the most terrible enemies of mankind is Devil Gun, Incarnation of the fear of guns with a simply scary design, but how did they come about?

In a recent interview, the mangaka explained the creature’s origin and revealed the following: “The Gun Devil was first shown in Volume 9. In Makima’s words, he could easily have been a MacGuffin (Editor’s note: Alfred Hitchcock’s term, by which we mean a medium that moves the plot), But I didn’t know how the fans would take it, so I decided to take my time and get it right. The problem was, it didn’t matter how much I thought about it: if you try to create a demon with weapons as the main subject, you always risk making it look like Yu-Gi-Oh! I was very careful not to draw anything that reminded me excessively“.

The Devil Gun is a real nightmare in the manga, a creature that can kill millions of people in a few minutes and is responsible for the death of the family members of one of the protagonists. The design visible below is just perfect.

What do you think about it? Let us know with a comment! In the meantime, we’d like to remind you that the first part of the Chainsaw Man manga ended on December 13th and that Studio MAPPA recently announced an anime adaptation.
