Confirmed Protagonist Cast
The revealed names set the stage: Kenshō Ono will portray Yuru, Yume Miyamoto voices Asa, Yūichi Nakamura plays Dera, and Misaki Kuno brings Gabu-chan to life. This talented team promises to breathe new energy into Arakawa’s dark universe.
A Luxurious Team at Bones Film
The anime will be produced by Bones Film, directed by the acclaimed Andō Masahiro. The script supervision will fall to the versatile Noboru Takagi, while character design has been entrusted to the talented Arai Nobuharu. Compositional duties for music rest with Suehiro Kenichirō, known from works like Re: Zero and Golden Kamuy.
About the Original Work
Yomi no tsugai marks Hiromu Arakawa’s most recent creative endeavor after her acclaimed series Fullmetal Alchemist. This popular manga began serialization in December 2021 within Monthly Shonen Gangan and has accumulated ten volumes to date, with the latest released on July 11th, 2025.
The announcement underscores Bones as a production powerhouse suited for Arakawa’s complex narrative. The adaptation promises to explore themes of demons, family bonds, and hidden truths in her signature style.
This development continues the trend where veteran mangaka like Arakawa benefit from established production teams but rarely share in the long-term financial rewards of their cultural exports.
