The scar fixed by Boruto in Chapter 78 is just the beginning of the end for young Uzumaki. As prophesied by Momoshiki Otsutsuki, the leaf village’s blonde ninja has lost everything that was his. L’Boruto’s identity was stolen by Kawaki.
Kawaki failed to kill Boruto and to root out the Momoshiki threat, but his capture was avoided thanks to Otsutsuki’s intervention. The deserter Kawaki continues his escape in Chapter 79 of Boruto and manages to avoid being detected by Konoha’s investigative teams by resetting his chakra and exploiting Sukunahikona’s powers.
Kawaki therefore manages to evade the searches of the Leaf’s ninja, but not those of Eida, who identifies his location through his special eye. However, organizational cyborg Kara has a crush on the boy and takes advantage of the clairvoyance. Eida is on Kawaki’s side.
When the two get back together, Kawaki shows his frustration at not being able to complete his mission. Momoshiki could destroy Konoha and kill the Seventh Hokage at any time, but Boruto is Naruto’s son and no one is willing to commit such a serious crime. At this point, Kawaki wonders why Boruto is an Uzumakiand not instead a foreigner like him.
Kawaki’s melancholy feelings reach Eida, who, through his divine power, transforms the wish expressed in Boruto 79 into reality. L’Eida’s omnipotence allows you to alter reality, swapping the identities of Kawaki and Boruto. The entire ninja world is now convinced that Kawaki was Naruto Uzumaki’s son all along and that Boruto is instead the fugitive who just “killed” the Hokage. Will it be possible to restore history, or did Boruto really lose everything that was his without being able to do anything about it?
