Mouth the Rock! was one of the big news of 2022, an adaptation by CloverWorks that won over the audience with a funny but at the same time exciting story. However, the popularity of the series spawns a few Legends of the Metropolis.
Shy but willing to conquer her fears thanks to the music and friends she forms the band with, Hitori Bocchi has been one of the most popular female anime protagonists of 2022. Currently a second season for Bocchi the Rock! has not yet been confirmedbut the series makes headlines for an important issue.
A legend circulated on the web that the author of the manga series had titled the work in honor of the J-rock band ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION, a musical group best known for their Naruto theme songs, among other things. The protagonist Bocchi’s name would have referred to the singer Gotchi, while “the Rock” came from the title “Gotch the Rock”.
There Mangaka Aki Hamaji disavowed this legend, which due to the similarities mentioned above, were taken for granted by the majority of fans and expressed disappointment with such speculation. All connections between Bocchi the Rock were therefore denied! and ASIAN KUNG FU GENERATION, con the author who pointed the finger at those spreading such rumours.
