L 'ASIFA Hollywood - The International Society for Animated Film announced the nominations for the upcoming Annie Awards. These are only given to the best animated films of the year in certain categories, similar to the Oscars.
Among the nominated films of 2021, Belle by Mamoru Hosoda appears in 5 different categories. The anime fictional film tells the story of Suzu, a seventeen-year-old young man who tragically experiences the grief for his mother while at the same time distancing himself from their shared passion: music. Through the social U, Suzu returns to singing and succeeds thanks to her alter ego Belle.
Belle was a finalist at the 65th London Film Festival, another huge success for this great film. To the Annie Awards, in the category "Best Indie Film " Belle is accompanied by two other Japanese films in the nominations, Ayumu Watanabe's Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko and Takayuki Hiraos Pompo: The Cinéphile and Patrick Imbert's The Summit of the Gods.
