The winner of the Eisner Prize James Tynion IV surprisingly announced his departure from DC Comics after a little over two years of collaboration. The writer was selected in September 2019 to replace Tom King in the Batman serialization, and he did it a few hours ago announced that it had declined the three-year extension suggested by the publisher.

"I had to make one of the hardest decisions of my career"Tynion stated in his newsletter",DC offered me a three year extension and the opportunity to continue working on Batman, ma I decided to decline because Substack offered me another contract. by far the best I've ever gotten in my cartoonist career. He'll be leaving Batman this November, shortly after # 117 releases, and The Joker in April 2022. I don't have any plans to do comics with superheroes in the future, but I want to create something unique and mine alone, a dream that I can finally realize thanks to Substack".

James Tynion IV has announced that his new work will bear the title Blue book, and that the artistic part is curated by the talented Michael Avon Oeming. The chapters will be posted on Substack in the near future, likely starting in 2022, and more details will be announced once the Fear State event is over.
