The Giants’ attack is finally back, however The fourth season requires an immeasurable effort of memory be understood in a single vision. In the season 4 premiere Fans saw Reiner and Zeke return, this time portrayed as protagonists of the battle rather than antagonists, but how did we get to this point?

In our brief recap of The Attack of the Giants, we talked about the birth of the Giants, Ymir Fritz and the clash between Marley and Paradise, the foundation and linchpin of this new season. However, one doubt the fans could still hold on to: Why are Reiner, Zeke, and the other Eldians helping Marley? We’ll explain it to you without spoilers.

As expected in the summary, the Eldians attacked the Marley nation after the death of Ymir Fritz, when their power was divided into that of the nine shapeshifters. Then due to internal friction, Marley managed to turn the tide of the warReceive seven of the nine giants and confine the Eldians to the Isle of Paradise.

However, some Eldians failed to reach the island and were imprisoned by Marley in some “special areas” of the cities where they soon fell victim to abuse due to the damage caused by their predecessors. The seven shapeshifters, however, were gigantic They can only be passed among Eldiansand because of this, Marley’s forces were forced to grant certain privileges to possible successors. Reiner and Bertholdt, born and raised in Marley, along with Annie Leonheart, got involved as children to follow the Shapeshifting Giants and receive the privileges mentioned above. Marley’s last plan was to infiltrate some men on Paradise Island in an attempt to steal the power of the parent giant.

After many Eldians learned of Marley’s plan, they decided to act, particularly Grisha Jaeger, Eren’s father. He tried to raise his eldest son Zeke to infiltrate the armyHe transformed him into the equilibrium of battle and entrusted him with the restoration of Eldia. Zeke, still a child, decided to betray his parents in order to protect himself, and Grischa was sentenced to death. Brought to paradise for execution, Grisha was saved at the last moment by the “owl”, an infiltrator, and managed to reach the walls and start a family with Carla.

That was when Reiner and Bertholdt came into play. After gaining the power of the shapeshifter giants (armored or colossal), the two were sent to the Isle of Paradise with Annie Leonhart (the female giant) and another boy, whose identity we will not reveal. with a mission to destroy the walls of Shiganshina and find the “coordinate”. The coordinate (a power you can use to control the giants and manipulate the memories of humanity) was owned by the Reiss family, but was only passed on to Grisha Jaeger during the fall of the Berlin Wall and soon afterwards to his son Eren.

By the end of season three, Eren finally discovered the truth and is preparing to take revenge on Marley. Across the ocean, Marley continues to rely on the giant beast (Zeke Jaeger), giant jaw (Porco Galliard), armored giants (Reiner Braun), and giant armor to destroy their enemies and prepare for the final confrontation. . In the first episode, the Eldians are used as suicide squads, while the four possible successors of the shapeshifters – including Gabi and Falco – are trained to be ideal “containers”. The reason the Eldians help Marley is because of simple brainwashing, carried out by law enforcement agencies through coercion and indoctrination from an early age. Reiner, the sole survivor of the failed Paradise Operation, is beginning to realize this.

In principle, paradise can rely on Eren Jaeger (attacking giant and founder), Armin Arlert (colossal giant) and Ackermanns, the strongest warriors of all time. On the other hand, Marley still has the four aforementioned giants in his ranks. The female giant is under the control of Paradise, but is temporarily inviolable due to the crystal cocoon created by Annie Leonheart. The giant hammer, however, is “independent”, but more information will be published in the next episodes.

All right? Let us know with a comment! For more information on Reiner’s past, just wait for the next episode as some flashbacks should finally be shown.
