The release of Dragon Ball Super 76 has sparked many suspicions in fandom, with the fear of many that Monaito’s revelations could ruin Baddack’s character. As is now known this character admired in “The Origins of Myth” no longer exists, the TV special that introduced the father of the protagonist Goku.
The Dragon Ball Super project actually got Akira Toriyama and Toei Animation to do some retcons in relation to the now widely accepted story and turn Bardock into something else, as told in Dragon Ball Minus, which also featured Goku’s mother . Dragon Ball Super has continued this trend and has Chapter 77 shows a baddack who is pitied by muesli and granolah, the mother-child pair from Cereal.
Reactions to Bardock’s gesture were mixed, and someone who did not accept the outcome chosen by Toyotaro and Toriyama developed their own little what-if comic to show what would have happened if Bardock had been the one from The Origins of the Myth. The DBNewHope site made a collage of scenes from the last chapter and other versions of the manga and also modified the lyrics to give the situation a completely new look.
