Chansard Vincent is an animator (apparently French as his Twitter description has sections in French and suggests he graduated from the Gobelins School of Image) who recently went viral following a post about the production of the fifth season of Boku is not a hero academy (My hero academy).

Vincent was involved in the production of the twenty-first episode of the fifth season (episode number 109 overall), specifically a section relating to the character Himiko Toga. The animator posted the layouts of the scene in question but also added a comment that went viral on the networks: «I was the one who asked not to be named on this episode. I usually ask about it when I feel like I am not controlling the quality of the end product being made.».
His comment refers to the fact that in the scene in question his work wasn’t actually used in the final product, in fact it’s completely different and the Twitter user Sakuga Brazil was responsible for displaying the comparisons with the following message: «The production of Boku no Hero Academia struggles with more ambitious approaches, as an animator often makes something too complex and his scene has to be redone. Vincent Chansard created an excellent layout for this week’s episode that was redone in the final version.».
The release sparked negative criticism of the production and the studios BONE in general, indicating that they are simplifying scenes rather than making them the way the project designers intended. Some have even minimized the work of the animators and pointed out that if this seems too complex, they better think about a second job.
This led to Chansard Vincentwhose publication sparked all this controversy, write the following in defense of the animators: «I’m so glad people like my animation, but please don’t use it to hate people who are literally ruining their health to make anime. The fact that the episode finished on time is proof enough that there was a reason for this change, and to be fair we have some pretty toga drawings. Fortunately, the team’s health was preserved, the episode ended, telling the story it was supposed to tell.»
He continued: “One thing that a lot of people don’t address is that the shots were long, my sequence was 20 shots and some of them were about 10 seconds long with a number of characters, and it’s one thing if it’s on the storyboard, but once you see it animated is a legitimate concern that could be too much. This is also something that happens every day in many anime. I’ve had to make corrections before and have sometimes changed the content of the recording so it’s perfectly reasonable that it could happen to me too, that’s how it works in our industry and that’s for the better».
He concluded: “The BONES studio gave me permission to publish the drafts even though they couldn’t because my name wasn’t in the credits so no one would have found out and everything would have been fine, but now the trust that the Company brought fuel to me to hate them. I think it’s not worth having a tweet that is literally just an excuse for people to hate passionate and overworked workers. I know it’s too late, but I could erase it if it keeps going».
