In the beginning of the series Dragon Ball Z The legend of the Super Saiyan had become one of the main mysteries of Akira Toriyama's work, and despite Goku and other Z-Warriors reaching that stage, the story was turned on its head when the eighth film introducing the Saiyan, Broly, became the Canon only became many years later.
