My hero academy discovered the perfect recipe for emotional origin stories, and few of them hurt quite like those of Shigaraki. The villain may have crossed the line, but fans still want to cheer for All For One’s little apprentice.
Just all power has trouble throwing the boy to the wolves despite his sins, so an artist decided it was time to explore him how things would have turned out if All Might had raised the boy.
The idea comes from Twitter, courtesy of the user Trevosher. As you can see below, the artist is going viral thanks to his Reinterpretation of Shigaraki’s origins. We all know that in the current series, All For One welcomed Shigaraki after the boy’s destructive quirk was unleashed on his family. But in this interpretation Shigaraki is found first by All Might.
As you can see, the adorable artwork not only fits the style of My Hero Academia, it also shows what could have been. Tomura Shigaraki – or rather Shimura Tenko – wanted to be a hero since he was a child. However, his family life and quirkiness have dashed those dreams. In this imaginary instead All Might managed to help Shigaraki control his power.
The series of images continues to follow Shigaraki as he befriends other characters in the series such as Eraser Head. An alternate universe, too good to be true, like the one where Dabi would have chosen the path of heroism in My Hero Academia.
After all, Shigaraki is a villain through and through, but through no fault of his own. The boy was used by All For One as his successor. What if All Might found him first we have no way of knowing what happened to the legacy of All For One.
