TOEI Animation is responsible for some of the most popular anime series in the community including Dragon Ball, ONE PIECE or Sailor Moon. However, the Japanese company has been the victim of a major hack in the last few hours. According to recent reports, one of the TOEI websites was shut down after the incident.
This seemed to be a heyday for the animation studio. The latest TOEI reports show that ONE PIECE sales are growing while Dragon Ball sales are still leveling off at optimal levels. However, when everything seemed to be going well, the Japanese parent company came along was attacked by hackers.
The update comes from IT Media, which revealed the attack on TOEI Animation. The hack was promptly fixed, but due to the infraction suffered one of the websites has been closed as a precaution. The online shop in particular has closed the shutters to avoid all sorts of trouble with customers.
TOEI is now working with IT Media to find out where the attack came from and what information was stolen. The investigation aims to uncover whether the user data has been breached or not. The attack may have been provoked by the recent dispute between TOEI and copyright, which dealt a serious blow to an American Youtuber. It remains to be seen if the hack somehow affected the next Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, or if any of that was the case steal messages not officially released yet.
